Chain machines either make links with a spiral or by jaws forming the wire over a mandrel. Links are made continuously at up to four per second.

At 800°c on a conveyer furnace the solder core runs to fill the link closures creating another strong chain.

      Belcher Machines
 use jaws and a mandrel.

  Curb Machines use spirals.

After cutting, a clasp is fitted
by forming an instantly welded joining link.

Clasps can also be fitted by soldering with a tiny flame. Handmade chains are made entirely with this technique.

All chains are finished
with polishing only. No
electroplating
is used in the production of Curteis chains.
