The process starts when 24ct pure gold casting grain is mixed with varying quantities of copper, zinc and silver to form 9,14 and
18 carat gold alloys.

A solder core of the same purity but lower melting point is slid inside the rod.

Molten alloy is drawn through a die at the base of a graphite crucible. It cools forming a 1"dia.tubular rod.

The completed bar is rolled down  to the small sizes and shapes of wire used in chain making.
